Surprise! (If you haven’t already heard) A little change in route, the Gap C men are in Lesotho, Africa while the women are split off in pairs of two in South Africa, Africa!
We have been here for only about two weeks now and it has been such a blessing for us. We live on a base called “Africa 4 Jesus Lesotho,” which houses local people from neighboring villages who want to be discipled, two missionary families, and us 11 men.
Our day to day life on field looks like: two guys traveling two and a half hours away to the closest town to get food and supplies once a week. Doing work on the farm which includes gathering crops and planting new ones. Traveling to villages which can be around two hours away (on foot) to meet new people and do house visits. We then invite them to church on Sunday where we have a four hour long service, eat food, and just hang out and play games with people. Our adventure day and sabbath are Friday and Saturday and on these days we often get to walk 45 minutes to a lodge where we are provided WiFi so that we can update friends and family once a week.
If you read my past blog, you would know that I’ve been struggling the past couple months with my faith so I want to also give an update on that. I first want to say, having no service or WiFi here is such a blessing, it leaves way less room for distractions. I go to bed anywhere around 7-9 and usually wake up around 5-5:30. This rest I get has been so refreshing to my soul. I get to wake up to Gods beautiful painted skies and just have some alone time with my Father and in the word. I sometimes will walk to the river on the property only about five minutes away or will make myself a cup of coffee and hangout inside and watch the sunrise and read. I have completely fallen in love with scripture, most days spending around five hours in my Bible. God has made clear to me that this is his written word and I have found so much joy reading through common books like the gospels with the mindset that I literally know nothing. Everything feels fresh and brand new. Another thing that I’ve found interest in is writing poetry! I’ve only written about three poems so far but I always have so much fun!
Anyway, only about a month or so left in the Race until I head back home. This has been the opportunity of a life time but I’m so excited to see all of you when I get back. I pray for everyone back home daily and can only ask that you would do the same. Remember that you are all loved by not only me, but the maker of heaven and earth and in that, we can rejoice. God bless all of you!
